Here’s what happened

Red FM launched a new competition to encourage us to stay at home and stay listening. More music Bingo involves the listener ticking off the songs they hear on there bingo card to win a cash prize.

RTE released there highest earning presenters list this week. Not a huge change at the top but next years numbers will be interesting as 2020 saw 15% cuts for some presenters.

And finally proof that the public can give some beautiful answers when under a bit of pressure. Today FM had this beauty of an answer earlier in the week proving you can’t beet funny wrong answers.

Rte announced there earnings for 2019 this week. Obviously no info on pandemic impact so next year will be interesting.

The biggest radio stories of 2020

It’s been a year like no other so here are the three biggest radio stories of the year.📻

The pandemic changed how we do radio

Everything changed a little as some began hosting from home and every news bulletin focused on one story.

Radio had more listeners than ever while simultaneously going through the toughest financial struggle the industry ever faced.

It was certainly a crazy time so let’s just hope next year is a bit less crazy!

Spin 1038 and Spin South West come together.

Spin decide to bring shows together and network some shows.

It’s something that has happened many times in the UK but it’s one of the first big examples here in Ireland.

More digital stations than ever before hit the internet

This year seems to have been a huge year for online stations. Many stations launched services that live in there apps. While others launched whole new brands.

From stations like Music One and quarantine FM to stations like 96FM Fit Mix there’s now more to listen to than ever before.
