Finally this week, something slightly different. Here at Radio Land we focus almost exclusively on irelands radio industry, but sometimes it can be interesting to look at trends in other media industries to get ideas for making radio more sustainable.
Google recently announced a deal in which they will pay Irish online news publications to use there content. While the financial terms aren’t being disclosed, google have said that at least some services are earning 7 figures.
This raises the question, should radio stations be negotiating deals with tech companies in a similar way? From smart speaker providers to the likes of Spotify, Irish radio has a lot to offer the tech companies. Could they pay? Tell us what you think on our Instagram.
And that’s the summary for this week. Come back to radio land next week for more radio news📻 and be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for extra stories.
